The Franklin Family II KC Photography, Augusta Georgia Photographer

I haven't blogged much lately, I've been SO busy! Between end of school activities, baseball, swim team, & trying to squeeze in time to work, it seems almost impossible to find extra time to do anything. Excuses, excuses.. I know. Anyways.. I've been working hard on some new techniques & made the swap from Paintshop Pro to Photoshop. This has taken a lot of work & time but I'm SO excited for KCP's future. I can already tell a huge improvement in my work and I'm not ashamed to say so. So, I wanted to show off a recent session of these beautiful children..

These kids are amazing!

God works miracles II KC Photography, Augusta Georgia Photographer

Why do horrible things happen to great people? The question everyone wishes they had an answer to. As hard as it is to believe at the time, God has a plan for every one of us.

Lauren & Joe tried for years to get pregnant. After tons of tears & money spent, their wish was finally granted. I was so honored to get to capture their "I do" and now Lauren's first baby bump. Due to complications, Lauren gave birth to baby Colton at just 7 months gestation. After a long hard fight, Colton went to be with the Lord at only one month old. He never left the NICU. After all it took to get pregnant Lauren & Joe lost their first child. But there is light at the end of the tunnel...

I found out Lauren was pregnant again on November 6th, 2013. I immediately cried from the joy I felt for her after watching her go through so much pain. Ladies & Gents.. the new baby bump...

Let me add -- ITS A GIRL -- little Miss Coblie :)

My sister [in law] gave birth to a still born about 6 years ago. She was devastated. It was a very tramatic experience that, at the time, I never thought her nor my brother would ever get over. I recently asked her if she was often sad over the loss of her first child. She told me that she thinks of her often and of course it is a sad memory but then she looks at her daughter Joplin [born one year later] and couldn't imagine life without her in it. Had Savannah lived on Earth with us, Joplin wouldn't be here today. I can't even fathom life with out my Joplin. It clicked for me in that moment. Why do bad things happen to good people? Because God has a plan. As hard as it may be to believe that in times of sadness, he has one. Colton was sent to be with the Lord because God had a plan for Colbie. Just as Savannah was sent to be with the Lord because God had a plan for Joplin. And hey, how lucky are they to have an older sibling as a guardian angel?

I can not wait to follow Colbie's journey from newborn to first year sessions. I only pray that once she is here safe and sound that Lauren & Joe will find peace the way that my sister did. Colbie truly is a miracle from God and I can NOT wait to meet her!

Oh how I LOVE newborns!! These little angels are so innocent and perfect in every way. All three of these newbies are very special to me & they were all born within 2 weeks of each other!

The First 48 - Tinsley Rae Strickland's Birth Story KC Photography II Augusta, GA Photographer

Casie & Michael came to me when Casie was 7 months pregnant, interested in a maternity session. I could feel so much excitement from the expectant parents. I knew right away they would be wonderful parents and looking at these photos, everyone could tell this baby was going to be GORGEOUS.

After our session, I mentioned to Casie that I was looking for a few expectant mothers to do some birth photography sessions with to add to my portfolio. She seemed a little hesitant at first, after all you think "birth photography" and you assume this means pictures of those hidden places for all the world to see. After explaining what the experience really was and sending her all the info I had put together, she was all for it.

Sept 10, 2013 - Casie's at home talking on the phone and POP! Her water broke! She called me around 10pm to deliver the news. Around 1am I get the call from Mikey, she's in active labor. I think I was almost as excited as they were! She had been experiencing a great deal of pain so when I walked in, she had just received her epidural. At this point she was 4cm and a LOT happier. I was introduced to her mother, step father, and close family friend. She's such a lucky girl to have such a great support system. Then we played the waiting game...

About 3:30 I was going to take a break and let Casie get some rest. I figured with this being their first child, we may be here several hours. I watched her contractions on the monitor and they were irregular & not peeking at the top of the chart so I was sure she was still 4-6cm. I spoke to the nurse and she informed she was going to check her at 4:00am so I decided to wait until then. The nurse came in about 4:20 to check Casie's cervix and WALA! She's 10cm and ready to have a baby!! Boy was I wrong! She paged the DR and little miss Tinsley was on her way! Casie pushed for a whole two hours! Tinsley was being stubborn :) But the moment that bundle of joy entered this world she was one of the most precious babies I had ever seen!

7 days later... this beautiful angel gets prettier by the day...
